Write an essay of +1500 words on the following:
Describe the relative and changing prevalence of communicable and non-communicable diseases in the United Kingdom from the 1800s up to the present day. Your essay should include explanation for why these changes have occurred.
Suggestions:
Explain the pattern of disease incidence in the 18/19th centuries compared to 20th / 21st centuries. Which diseases were/are more prevalent in each of the two eras
Explain why the change in the pattern and type of disease occurrence has happened in that way ( think about social factors such as changes in housing, amount of physical activity people undertake in their daily lives, housing and sanitation improvements, dietary improvements ( or not!), medical treatments such as vaccines, antibiotics, the free healthcare available on NHS since miIDle 1900s.
Finish with a conclusion as to where you think the pattern of health is going, bearing in mind lifestyles, warnings of antibiotics losing their potency etc, increased global migration
