The purity of cytochrome c can be evaluated by the ratio of the molar extinction coefficient (129.1 mM-1cm-1) at 416 nm of the reduced cytochrome c and the molar extinction coefficient (23.2 mM-1cm-1) at 280 of the oxidized cytochrome c. You extracted cytochrome c from yeast in the laboratory and after running UV spectra for the reduced and oxidized cytochrome c you had absorbance of 1.28 and 0.307 units respectively.
(i) What is the percentage of cytochrome c from your experiment?
(ii) If you used a 1 cm cuvette, what is the concentration of your cytochrome c?
